to market, to market
one of the daily routines i have come to enjoy is my stroll through the grand central market on my way from the subway to my office. it is a fresh and inviting blend of sights and smells and, as i have found, a wonderful source of ideas and inspirations for my own adventures in cooking and entertaining.
sometimes, as i pass through on my way home, i buy some produce or spices - i have yet to buy any of the prepared foods, meats or fish, as i'd rather not subject my fellow commuters to the smell of tilapia or pungent cheeses. i don't know, something about smelling those delicacies on the subway makes them lose some of their...delicacy.
but most of all, the vendors at the market display things beautifully and truly sell the cream of the crop, quite literally. it's a real pleasure to walk through and admire, enjoy and plan.
