video conference

there are so many videos constantly being emailed around and so much tv to watch on every screen that we're all on overload from time to time, right? add to that the fact that i work in television and am married to a television lover, i am often on MEDIA OVERLOAD. but there are certain videos that i still watch from time to time just because they make me feel good, and i wanted to share them with you this morning.

do you remember this awesome wedding entrance? i still get chills because it's just so fun and thinking about the amount of effort all their friends put in to learn it and step outside their comfort zone to actually do it. obsessed. plus it's a great song.

then there's this michael buble video that i just find contagious. first of all, i just love him so much. the song is so catchy, the video is so kitchy, and the horns...love those horns. and all the paper confetti reminds me of the paper confetti moments at my own wedding and at my sister's. priceless.

and you've seen the honey badger video right? omg. if you haven't, you're going to need to go somewhere where curses are okay, and watch it immediately.

oh, and one other music video. have you heard of lenka? i love this song of hers and the video is cute and quirky too. this is totally one of those songs that just makes me smile and tap my feet in a way that reminds me of my grandpa and makes me smile even bigger.

as lenka says, just enjoy the show! see you tomorrow.

behold...links of love

do you die over most everything from BHLDN like i do? I DIE. it hurts, much like walking into anthropologie does. on one hand, bhldn sort of packs up the vintage chic thing into almost too neat a lace-and-typography package, makes it too attainable and spot on, and it makes it seem a little ubiquitous, which is the precise moment a wedding trend jumps the shark and becomes boring. but it does it so beautifully, it's forgiven, and mixed in with one's own style and flair, it could be wonderful and charming.

and i thought i was bored of coverups and boleros until i saw these. and are you kidding me with this duchess lace cape?

but there's been some uproar about one of their boleros, among other things...

there seems to be a pervading feeling that they've stolen designs directly from small, independent designers. so disappointing, don't you think so? apparently this has been going on for some time, which i hate to see since i love anthro and urban so much. and at least on man shops globe, they seemed to give credit where credit was due...

do you think this is terrible and anti-artist, or do you think it's the way the world works and the blogosphere has just noticed it in this case? i really want to hear the thoughts of consumers, designers, buyers and business people alike...this must be happening every minute all over the place.

in less controversial wedding chat, check out BRIDEfinds' cute math on kim kardashian's monster bling...

and look at the lovely purpleness of this purple wedding. by including shades of blue and steely gray, the wedding doesn't look birthday-party-purple, which i'm sure the groom appreciated :)

and how about this gorgeous rainbow inspiration from the broke-ass-bride? i think it's marvelously tongue-in-cheek for a gay wedding, but i love it for a straight one too!

since most couples' engagement stories are a bit of a blur, i love the idea of taking engagement photos where the magic happened, like this couple featured on bwed. cute!

did you do a groom's cake? would you? check out these sweet treats for inspiration...love the fish and the sneaker!

any good wedding chatter on your end?

links of love...on weddings

you have to go see the full gallery of this orangey peachy wedding on the wedding chicks...so pretty. so sweet.

and did you hear missoni will be doing a line for target? what are your thoughts? i'm interested...in a reserved way. bridefinds has some ideas of what it might be like...

b'wed did a round-up of gorgeous white wedding shoes...which are your favorites? mine have to be these.

do you know about burning man? and do you know people get married there? check out the gorgeous pictures on ok, now what bride and see what the weddings look like. i love the vibrant colors against the desert backdrop here, don't you?

and check out the thorough, colorful coverage of the movie bridesmaids on the broke-ass-bride. i so want to see this movie. just seems fun, doesn't it? and i loooove melissa mccarthy. do you watch mike and molly? you should.

bookshelf perfection

how sweet is this print, called  ideal bookshelf 101: robert verdi. it's part of a collection of ideal bookshelves by artist jane mount (she creates images of peoples' bookshelves as a form of biography), and they're all sold separately at 20x200. i sometimes think a gorgeous image of something replaces the need to have it...so even if we can't all have the most fabulous collection of books on our shelves, we can have a perfect picture of them.

do you know about the magnificent website 20x200? here's the deal: they sell numbered prints of all kinds of beautiful and different artwork, and they editions start at only $20. most pieces are sold in four sizes and they also sell originals if you'd like. read more about their story here, and whatever you do, bookmark this site for when you need just the thing...for you, for a friend, or just for some eye candy.

do you love?

friday links and thoughts

hello friends. i don't normally say TGIF, but TGIF right? what are you up to this weekend?

tonight, i'm watching this movie with my mom and sister and brother's girlfriend. my sister is excited because her name is molly.

tomorrow, we're celebrating my grandmother's 90th birthday and the grandchildren are supplying two dozen pink balloons!

i celebrated a birthday too this week. my gift...

i think a lot about how i'll handle food with my future children since it's an issue mitchell and i both struggle with. i loved this interview with actress, model and food blogger catherine mccord about ways to instill healthy eating in children. its sort of the opposite of jessica seinfeld's method of hiding the good-for-you foods in other, more kid-preferred fare. catherine's model is about involving kids in the process so they feel ownership and a connection to their choices and the food they eat. for the mamas out there...do you think catherine's outlook is easier said than done? i hope it's totally doable cause it sounds so smart.

i've held off long enough on a mani and this color is it. i've been eyeing all the poppy reds i'm starting to see and i need my fix.

this video and song still make me smile, and i think michael buble is totally adorable. and those horns!! he got married last week to the blond girl in the video, and she wore purple!

and while we're on weddings...

celebrity wedding reporter dishes on colorful wedding gowns...what are your thoughts? i thought i was taken with the pink ones until i saw the yellow one. so pretty, so different, so LOOKATMEI'MTHEBRIDE. love.

BRIDEfinds went behind the scenes at bridal week and chatted with theia designer don o'neill...check out some of the looks...i love this flirty cocktail length one!

the broke-ass-bride picked out some mother of the bride dresses that are decidedly unmatronly...nicely done! and lots of them even address the classic mom concerns (read: arms).

WOW. you're definitely going to need to treat youself to a few uninterrupted minutes of drooling over the vintage indie bohemian style dictionary shoot featured on every last detail.

ok now what bride brings us seven tips for grooming the groom...i don't know, this groom looks okay to me.

look how beautiful!! it's an amazingly lovely ranch wedding brought to us by the wedding chicks.

and look at bwed's beautiful inspiration board by and for bridesmaids. love those neutrals with the light orange. and polka dot balloons!!

have an inspiration board kind of weekend.
