extra! extra!

as reported by many in the blogosphere and by kelly to me just moments ago...

in a time when shelter publications are turning their last pages...

our mission is to reopen the doors of accessible design. by embracing an online platform we provide inspiration at the click of a finger, directly connecting our readers to their favorite products and resources. our freedom from page limits means that we can share more content in each issue, delivering an intimate look into the way people really live. at lonny, we value independent thinking and believe not in following trends but rather in making choices that lead to happiness. we believe that good design and affordable design can coexist and that true inspiration can be found in the teeniest of homes or in the grandest of spaces. coming fall 2009 ;)

i'm very happy to see that lonny will pay attention to the cross-section of good and affordable, as that is something that the much-missed domino did a great job of, and many of the other mags on the market often disregard.

i am sort of disappointed that this will be an online magazine rather than a print one, because i the print shelter magazine market is very limited now, while the online universe for this kind of content is rather ginormous. i wonder how lonny will fare amid its hefty competition online. but i do understand it's the direction in which publishing is going, so i will add it to my bookmarked sites as soon as it's live.
