essie 's carry-on collection for fall

what are your thoughts? i love that the fall collection is bag themed and i like how this year's fall collection lines up with last year's, seen together below (last year's, then this year's). it looks like neither a copy nor a departure, but an evolution, and don't we all love evolution where we can get it?

i'm interested in each of this year's colors, i suppose, especially very structured, case study and glamour purse. i'm confused by power cluctch which appears greenish above, though gray in a different image i've seen, and is described as a gray-green. i guess i'll HAVE to get a mani to get some clarity.

meet me at sunset

especially if sunset looks like this! i know what my next pedi color is going to be. doesn't essie's new meet me at sunset look like the perfect summer corange? yup, corange - just made that up. coral and orange. beach ready. city ready. everything ready.

why pedi and not mani, you might wonder? because i can't stop getting long stem roses on my hands...it's my favorite color ever. EVER. i want to marry it.

stripes for summer

fully and completely obsessed with this color combination and the playful stripe. this puts me in the mood for beautiful weather like nothing else.

rose colored glasses...and blue and purple and white and green....

i'm a little taken with colored glass bottles right now...they're so pretty, especially in lovely pastel shades like these.



i love how this collection is all in shades of blue...so collected and grown-over-time looking, isn't it?

tag sales and flea markets are great places to find glass like this, but it can be challenging to amass a sizable collection upon deciding you want to have one so i like the idea of being on the lookout for good finds at places like that while also picking up a few here and there in retail settings like these and these from west elm. all together they look a little too mass-produced, but mixed in with vintage and mismatching pieces, they totally work.





pier 1 also sells glass bottles, seen below, and in small doses, they can contribute nicely to a collection. these feel more kitcheny feel, right?

nailing it for spring

what nail colors are you loving right now? the above combination is what i've been doing myself in an effort to skip manis for a few weeks to save some money. i do one coat of ladies choir from sinful colors ($1.99) and then a top coat of starry silver glitter from NYC color (.99 cents)which is high impact silver with little blue flecks. i might be easing into blue nail polish. p.s. there are coupons for NYC color for $1 off (which i can't find online right now), and if you use them at cvs and get the older bottle style seen above, they're free with the coupon. don't tell NYC i'm spreadin' the news.

some of my recent mani faves are from opi's texas collection, specifically suzi loves cowboys, a true dark brown, though i'm a little out of the dark mood now. are you?

then there's essie's spring collection, which is rather lovely across the board. i'm having that how-will-i-decide anxiety...they're all so pretty. have you tried any yet?

a mismatch made in heaven

i love the use of mismatching woods in this little vignette -- the pale gray stained chair is totally unpurposeful looking with the walnut hutch, isn't it? and the white wainscotting and picture frames add even another layer of that collected feeling. i find images like this inspiring because it lets us see how much possibility there is in the things we already own...hand-me-downs, heirlooms, tag sale finds and the occasional new purchase can all live together in a kind of harmony that you just can't buy out of a catalog. well, i guess in this case you actually could. well done pottery barn.

very vibrant colors

i'm loving all these bright saturated colors. how about this monochromatic ensemble from max mara? that yellow is bananas. no pun intended. here's more max mara yellow.





i think i'm officially ready for spring. these colors are making me feel drunk! i love love love this post from habitually chic about punchy spring wardrobes, and you will too if you're craving color.

an unfussy room

how totally gorgeous is this room? i love the softness of it. it's sweet and feminine, but not so much so that a man couldn't happily live there. there are so many things that speak to me about this room....the color of that wall is just perfection. and i'd know those poufs anywhere. i love the idea of them in place of a bench at the foot of the bed. the headboard reminds me of the one i die for from pottery barn and all together, the look is so unfussy and collected.

okay so i hope you're all enjoying the bridal links...i know i am! today, i have a few to share that are just BEYOND.

check out this roundup of 21 wedding gowns with sleeves on the broke-ass bride (awesome blog, btw)...where was this when i was a bride? i die over numbers 3, 8,15 (all below) and 16 (above).


and how fun are these flirty reception dresses on BRIDEfinds? what a great costume change for after dinner, or even as the one and only wedding dress for a certain kind of affair. how fun!!

and file katherine henry's ideas on the wedding chicks under OMG - SO CUTE. how totally perfect are these glitter lips in place of the getting-tired mustache deal for a photo booth?

and i love these pink and chocolate (literally) inspiration boards from bwed. the pink and brown thing was around so long it sort of got stale, but here it looks fresh and new again, i think due to the little hits of red here and there. plus, check out all bwed's other beautiful inspiration boards...such good ideas for a wedding, a dinner party, a bedroom or an outfit!

ooh...i spy with my little brown eye the sofia blanc de blanc cans...remember? now there's a good idea for these cold winter days, especially for valentine's day. pick up a pack and enjoy a sweet sip!

stamped

isn't this the best stamp ever? my love for chippendale chairs never seems to find its edges - i just love them all the time, everywhere. i wish this stamp wasn't only worth 4 cents of postage...i would buy a lifetime supply if it was full mailing value (though come to think of it, i don't send much through the mail anymore).

i don't only love the chair, though. i also love the color choices on the stamp - the creamy yellow of the chair, the burnt orange seat and the warm, raisiny taupe of the background. it's a pretty little piece of 4 cent perfection.

against the wall

look at this beautiful tiled wall i spotted on house of turquoise, designed my matteo thun. isn't it amazing? i'd love to do a bathroom just like it, probably in a seaside house.


and this image is from absolutely beautiful things, and is a little tighter in its color palette, and is also gorgeous. i could see these in a kitchen or even a neat little mudroom.

i love the patchwork charm of these tiles, and the fact that you could piece tiles together that you've gathered from all different designers, companies, stores, even different countries. it reminds me of a fantasy i used to have about designing a dream home and spending a year traveling the globe hand-picking each piece. i think seeing these walls of tile makes that idea seem more attainable - while you don't have to collect every single piece of a home in your travels, you could certainly do it in the form of tiles for a backsplash or one wall of a bathroom.
