a few thoughts for a monday

how cute is the image of a dog licking an ice pop?!? i die.

this method of bracelet storage might need to happen in my life.

thanks to apartment therapy's sneak peek at the ikea fall catalog (and to kelly for sending that link to me), we are introduced to the fab idea of hanging pendants together to create a one-of-a-kind chandelier. LOVE.THIS.IDEA. i might not have chosen those exact three to hang in that exact way, but there's no denying it's a killer idea.

it kind of reminds me of this idea, but less expected.

workshop cage lights...bestill my heart.

half artist's palette, half egg plate...all gorgeous.

what are you thinking about this monday morn?

throw me a bone

how do you feel about objects for the home with bone inlay? i loooooove them. i think they contribute perfectly to exactly the type of design that's speaking to me right now...eclectic, culturally influenced and not too perfectly matched.

i love it in every incarnation here...polished and glam, international, relaxed, tribal, elegant and everything in between.

probably my most favorite is the room above with the bone inlay dresser...i don't think it's any coincidence that the room also hold some of my other favorites...an x bench and a suzani pillow included.

high/low...suzani pillows

do you remember my obsession with suzani? well it's still alive and well. i LOVE it. i totally want a few suzani pillows to mix in with my already eclectic throw pillow collection and there's something endlessly lovely about having a piece made from a vintage fabric that bears so much historical and ornamental significance...but i don't have $350 to spend on a pillow this decade. if you do, peruse here and email me every gorgeous, saturated, luxe detail you find. in the meantime...

here are some vintage suzani pillows from the fab jayson home and garden. they're $195 - $350 and each is unique.

and then here are some pillows i found at land of nod, in keeping with my love for childrens' store for cheaper versions of grown-up decor concepts. these range from $29 to $39, and while they're certainly not the same, in combination with each other and with other throw pillows, for me they achieve a similar impact.

what do you think? you see it, or do you think i'm nuts?

night song

how sweet would this night song print be as a wedding gift or a bridal shower gift? i love the idea of giving something a little different for those occasions...you can always shop off the registry and no one ever complained about cash, but sometimes it's special to give something they'll have forever. the lovebirds print here is perfect for that...they could hang it on a wall, lean it on a bedside table, even place it in the nursery of their one-day-to-be baby...i love it.

bookshelf perfection

how sweet is this print, called  ideal bookshelf 101: robert verdi. it's part of a collection of ideal bookshelves by artist jane mount (she creates images of peoples' bookshelves as a form of biography), and they're all sold separately at 20x200. i sometimes think a gorgeous image of something replaces the need to have it...so even if we can't all have the most fabulous collection of books on our shelves, we can have a perfect picture of them.

do you know about the magnificent website 20x200? here's the deal: they sell numbered prints of all kinds of beautiful and different artwork, and they editions start at only $20. most pieces are sold in four sizes and they also sell originals if you'd like. read more about their story here, and whatever you do, bookmark this site for when you need just the thing...for you, for a friend, or just for some eye candy.

do you love?

label whore

do product labels or packaging make you want to buy them? right now, my label crush is tammy fender's line which has caught my eye in a few mags and then this morning on goop. it's the opposite feeling i have when i want to peel off the labels (also a great visual effect).

the packaging itself is very simple...whiskey-bottle style vessels, clean white labels and a kick-ass typestyle.

some other favorites at the moment are my precious mrs. meyers labels...

and the vintagey feel of the organic lemon label at trader joe's.

it pays to notice the little things, don't you think? they're all around us!

still life

aren't these photos the loveliest? they're from ahsley, of the blog butterflyfood, and she also (thankfully) sells her gorgeous photos on etsy. i just adore her work. i love the way her artistic eye has perfectly captured the extraordinary nature of truly ordinary things.

i would love to have a few of these framed simply and hanging in my kitchen. hmm....perhaps i will, since they're unbelievably affordable ($10.95 each or 3 for $25).
