tiny treasures...over the shoulder

sometimes i just feel overwhelmed by the awesomeness of a good find...can you relate? when i was in bath and body works mourning the discontinuation of my beloved vanilla noir, i spotted these nylon totes and i wasn't as sad. i went for the lime chevron and the blue ikat, but the other prints are great too.

i've long loved nylon totes and i use them for little gifts, for carrying stuff in matching style and for keeping one in every nook and cranny of my life. what's special about these is twofold - first, the pouch they roll into is attached, which isn't always the case, so there's no little pouch to keep track of. and secondly, and this is the best part, the straps are long enough that you can comfortably wear them on your shoulder rather than having to hold them.

so these are this week's tiny treasure. if you need an almost-neon pick-me-up, the lime chevron is your answer.

tiny treasures...plug it in

okay, so i had to do an emergency tiny treasure post because today is the very last day for $5 wallflowers at bath and body works (online and in-store). the starter sets and the refills are $5 each, marked down from $12.50.

last time i bought garbage bags, i accidentally got the "odor-shield" kind, which smell outrageously disgusting, and i literally got depressed every time i walked into the kitchen and smelled them (i have a sickly good sense of smell). eventually, i broke down and just bought a fresh box, even though i felt bad about wasting. i just can not deal with bad smelling things. can you relate? my point is this: scents are powerful, and can affect our moods in serious ways, don't you agree? and since tiny treasures is all about bringing happiness and luxury into our lives for $5 or less, nothing could be more perfect or appropriate than this.

moving on...i always love things like this in a small space like a bathroom or closet because you get the most bang for your buck...and at only $5, that's a lot of bang for not a lot of bucks. and although TT is very much about indulging yourself when you can, it's not a bad idea to stock up now on stocking stuffers or office gifts, right? in the long run, it's your treasure anyway when you don't have to run around doing last minute shopping.

my personal favorites of the scents available in wallflowers are coconut lime verbena (you might remember my obsession from last summer), lavender vanilla (another perennial obsession of mine), and warm vanilla sugar, especially for the cooler months, which are admittedly hard to think about at this hot, sticky moment.

and i'm totally swinging by to smell eucalyptus spearmint! find your local store here.

tiny treasures...mellow yellow

news team assemble! i am preempting my previously planned tiny treasure (tune in next week) and replacing it with a clear command to take your $5 and go quickly to bath and body works, one of my favorite purveyors of reasonably priced pampering products. (say that three times fast). sorry, i just had to.

bbw's "yellow sale" has reached fever pitch, and they are almost giving things away.i recommend going at a time where you have some time to walk around, sniff, test things out and not feel rushed. take pleasure in the act of treating yourself, not just the end result. it's so much nicer that way.

note: to take full advantage of this sale, you have to go to the store - forget the website - prices are different, plus they're shipping. and tiny treasures are NOT about paying for shipping. find your local stores here

.
okay, so we're talking 75% and 90% off of hundreds of products, in all different scents including lots of evergreens. that means that if someone were to purchase a large bottle of festive vanilla fig lotion (or any other "holiday traditions" scent) because said person is really into fig right now, it would cost $1.20. yes, that's right, $1.20. to me, it surely doesn't matter that they're in holiday-style stripes and colors. i care about the goods only!

also, you might like to know that the aromatherapy candle (nicely sized, and well-scented) is selling for $2.62. the lavender vanilla is what i would recommend, one of my all-time favorite scent profiles. also on the candle front, kelly was thrilled to get some of the 4 oz slatkin & co jar candles for $5 this past weekend, and i think i saw them for even less at my local store yesterday. look for leaves - it's a great, earthy, nostalgic scent for fall and winter.

and how about cozy, shea-butter infused sleep socks for $1.87 a pair? YES.

if this bevvy of items isn't a well-spent $5 to warm up the coldest days of the year, i don't know what is. put down the calculator...it's actually $5.69, but you know what, you're worth the extra 69 cents. AND the tax.

you can also use this opportunity to stock up on gifts for giving over the next year...candles, bath gels, creams, socks, slippers and perfumes are never out of style (many of the signature eau de toilettes are 75% off, selling for $6.62 - look for vanilla noir and enchanted orchid, specifically).

stock up your guest bathrooms, wedding welcome bags, next year's stocking stuffers, you name it! but do it fast - sale ends sunday.

honey gift files...sweet dreams

it's easy to forget that the longest, coldest part of the winter is after the holidays are over and done, and without all the cheer and togetherness to warm them up. so it's always nice to give gifts that help our loved ones to keep cozy throughout those months.

my favorite way to buy pajamas for myself and as gifts is to get a few pieces in complementary colors that are interchangable with each other and make for several possible combinations. last winter, i bought myself a set of red pajamas and a set of black, and then a robe and slippers in black and white, and a sleepshirt in red and white. what i love is that whatever combination i go for matches, and that's a really nice, sort of fancy feeling, even while i'm at my most casual. upon making that purchase, i really discovered the unique pleasure and comfort of something like this - it's one of those things that adds specialness to an everyday routine.

here are some of my favorite picks for this season. they all come in several different colors and patterns, so click around and check out all your options.

from gap body:

from lane bryant (plus size):

from old navy plus:

from old navy:

old navy has so many (and such well-priced) options that i couldn't resist a second color scheme:

from gap maternity:

from natori:

from bath and body works:

i love these mukluk slippers from victoria's secret, which i think are great on their own as a gift and most of them are on sale for around $20:

,
this cashmere lounge set and robes from arlotta through bare necessities would make an amazingly luxe gift -- like, celeb-quality luxe:

from avenue (plus size):

from restoration hardware, i love these foot duvets (great deal at $16) and both the cashmere and plush robes (monogrammable):

and look at these his and hers long johns from red envelope...adorable. i think if i were to opt for these, i'd totally opt for mr. and mrs. embroidery. would be especially cute for a newly married pair.

with so many potential colors and prints, it's fun to pick out the components of a pajama gift, and even more fun to open up a gift that gives warmth every night of the winter.
